For "Ask a..." we sent up a tent at Oakland's popular First Friday Art Murmur/street party and let people ask us questions. The tent had two windows on two of the sides, and one person sat at each window, representing a different aspect of their identity, from Arab and Black Woman, to artist and Catholic. Each "answerer" was encouraged to answer each question as honestly and spontaneously as they could, and to correct assumptions or challenge the "asker." People on the street could volunteer to answer questions from within the tent, or simply ask a question of one or more of the "answerers."
